To avoid COVID-19 duty at Lakhanpur, 14 teachers/lab assistants get medical leave on May 20 alone
‘CEO Kathua deputes non-influential staff at frontline, save influential by shifting to safer zones’

EARLY TIMES REPORT

JAMMU, May 21: The shifting of 14 Masters/teachers/lab assistant from the frontline job at toll post Lakhapur to safer places by the Chief Education Officer (CEO) Kathua on May 20 alone and all on “medical grounds”, has raised eyebrows among the teaching fraternity, which accused the CEO favouring the influential and pushing non-influential for the job.
According to the latest order number 51-CEOK/of 2020 dated 20/5/2020, issued by CEO office Kathua and signed by District Education Planning Officer CEO Office Kathua, a total of 14 staff members including Masters/teachers/Lab Assistants who were deputed at Camp Office CMO Toll Plaza Lakhanpur have been shifted to safe places and the reasons mentioned for shifting is written as, “On Medical Grounds”.
Pertinently, at Camp Office CMO Toll Plaza Lakhanpur, over one hundred teaching and non-teaching staff of schools from zone Lakhanpur and Kathua were deputed, who have been assigned various jobs such as checking all the incoming people, students as well as truck drivers, cleaners, helpers beside others to Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory.
“The staff members at the frontline duty are vulnerable to catch infection so maximum of the teachers are not willing to serve at Lakhanpur”, teachers said, adding that out of over 100 teaching and non-teaching staff deputed at Lakhanpur, over two dozen had already modified their orders and got themselves shifted to safer places from Lakhanpur toll plaza.
The teaching and non-teaching staff who have been shifted from Lakhnapur as per 20th May order, to safer places are Om Parkash Sharma HS Airwan, Parveen Singh HS Hote, Angreez Singh HS Hote, Ashok Kumar Lab Assistant GHSS Kathua, Pawan Kumar Sharma HSS Hatli, Bhupinder Kumar Sharma Lab Assistant HSS Hatli, Rajat Singh Lab Assistant HSS Barwal, Gopal Dass Sharma HS Hote, Rajesh Kumar HS Hote, Darshan Singh HSS Nagri Parole, Updesh Kumar Lab Assistant HSS Jakhbar, Kertiman Sharma Lab Assistant HSS Keerian, Varinder Kumar HSS Hatli and Hemmit Singh HSS Hatli.
The order issued by CEO on May 20, is not alone, there are over dozen other orders issued by CEO office since the announcement of lockdown, according to which the teachers deputed at Lakhanpur have been getting their duties cancelled and replaced by some other teachers.
“Some of the teachers have got their posting orders cancelled even after only 12 hours. While some got their orders modified after few days”, the teachers said, adding that those having links within the administration have got themselves shifted to safer zones and were replaced by some other non-influential teachers at frontline Lakhanpur.
Questioning the authenticity of the “medical grounds” mentioned in the order of May 20, teachers alleged that most of the teachers had strong links in the administration and there was no medical ground and it appeared to be totally manipulated.
“There are many teachers, who have been deputed at Lakhanpur for the last over 50 days now but the CEO has not shifting them to schools for some rest but only the influential teachers have been managing themselves shifted”, the teachers said, adding that there were many other teachers, who actually have health issues but have not been entertained by the Office.
CEO Kathua, HL Pakhroo admitted that the reasons for shifting all these teachers as per May 20, order, were not medical grounds. “They have been deputed at Lakhanpur for the last over one month, so they have been given a break and after only one week, they would be shifted back to Lakhanpur”, he said but as per written order, it is explicitly mentioned that these 14 teachers have been shifted for 15 days.
Moreover, Pakhroo further said that they have decided to give some rest to all those teachers serving at Lakhanpur for the last over one month.
On the allegation of shifting influential teachers by his office after only few days, CEO said that if such cases would be brought to his notice, he would take proper action.
