12/18/2018 11:31:57 PM
Avinash Azad Early Times Report Jammu, Dec 18: Jammu and Kashmir Police has got itself in the midst of a major controversy, allegedly for granting VIP security to a Kashmiri businessman reportedly flouting the norms of assessing security threat perception to an individual. Official sources in the Raj Bhawan said that a rich businessman who is neither a politician nor a bureaucrat has been unduly given "Y-Category" security and that a good number of policemen were at his disposal. Sources said the businessman had approached some senior officials in the Security wing of the Jammu and Kashmir Police requesting good security cover from police as it would help him to elevate his influence in the society in Kashmir. "Enjoying security cover from police has become a new status symbol in a section of society in Kashmir and thus such moneyed people can do anything to get more and more security even as they have no such security threat," said a senior official close to the Raj Bhawan on the condition of anonymity. Sources said the businessman, who runs business of manufacturing spices, ...

Tries to pit Jammu against Kashmir for saving his party
12/18/2018 11:31:50 PM
Early Times Report Jammu, Dec 18: Peoples Democratic Party is not leaving any stone unturned to project its former ally Bharatiya Janata Party as the "biggest enemy" of the people of Jammu and Kashmir. Senior PDP leader and former minister Naeem Akthar on Tuesday accused BJP of trying to repeat 2008 like situation in J&K for electoral gains. He condemned what he called "hateful language and threats issued to the particular community during the 'Dharam Sansad' organized by VHP and RSS at Jammu. PDP shuns Mufti's visionary-secular agenda; pursuing communal politics
12/18/2018 11:31:40 PM
Early Times Report Jammu, Dec 18: The present leadership of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has apparently abandoned secular agenda of its founder late Mufti Mohammad Sayeed and party is shamelessly following divisive and communal agenda to befool innocent people of Kashmir Valley in the name of religion. Instead of taking leaders of all regions and sub-regions together, PDP leadership has singled out four districts namely Jammu, Samba, Kathua and Udhampur from day-today activities of the party and it appears that party leadership has no faith on peoples and leaders of these four districts. The way party leadership had ignored leaders of these four districts during a meeting which was hel...

Central rule a blessing in disguise for Ladakhi Buddhists
University of Ladakh
12/18/2018 11:31:34 PM
Early Times Report Jammu, Dec 18: The people of Ladakh, especially the Buddhists, have said that the "Central rule is better in the state than the popular rule" and that "the people of the region are being benefited due to the Central rule". They have spared even the BJP and accused it of letting them down in its desperate bid to please Kashmiri political class. The assertion of the Ladakhis that the Central rule was better than popular rule is not based on heresy; it's based on hard facts. It was during the Central rule that Ladakhis got two autonomous hill development councils, one each for Buddhist-majority Leh district and Shiite-majority Kargil district. It happened during the regi...
