Jammu, Mar 14: Health Minister Chaudary Lal Singh has stirred the hornet's nest by misbehaving with a lady doctor for not wearing an apron, in a significant development Jammu, Resident Doctors Association (RDA) today announced that doctors won't wear the white apron in the hospital premises till the Health Minister learns to behave with doctors.
The RDA announced that it would support the lady doctor Dr Gurmeet Kour, who was allegedly humiliated by the Health Minister in full public glare for not wearing an apron. The doctors would take out a protest march on Monday from GMC Jammu to Civil Secretariat.
Talking to Early Times, President of RDA, Jammu, Dr Neeraj Sharma said, "We have unanimously decided to extend full support to Dr Gurmeet Kour who was treated shabbily by the Health Minister Choudhary Lal Singh-who is supposed to be our caretaker."
He said that doctors would not to wear an apron till proper dress code is established in all health institutions of the state and health minister "learns to behave."
The RDA appealed the Prime Minister, Governor of Jammu and Kashmir and Chief Minister of the State to reign in "ill-behaved arrogant minister" to prevent doctors from resigning en-masse.
"All doctors would take out a peaceful protest march against the arrogant attitude and misbehavior of the Minister from GMC Jammu to Civil Secretariat on March 16, "he informed.
When contacted president of Doctors Association Kashmir (DAK), Dr Nisar-ul-Hassan said, the DAK had condemned the misbehaviour of the Health Minister on the very first day.
Hinting that DAK would extend support to Dr Gurmeet Kour General Secretary of India Dental Association (IDA) Jammu Branch, Dr Gautam Sharma said president of the association is not in the state as soon as he returns, the IDA would announce its support officially.
Pertinently, Jammu and Kashmir Police refused to register a complaint against the Health Minister claiming that complaint has no substance.
However, a few days ago Doctors Association Kashmir (DAK), Jammu and Kashmir People's Democratic Trade Union (JKPDTU) and Chenab Valley Doctors Association had condemned the alleged misbehaviour of the Health Minister with doctors and paramedics of the health department and had assured Dr Gurmeet Kour of full support.
They had demanded registration of FIR against the Minister for insulting a senior doctor.
