Jammu, June 12: Tall claims of the Jammu and Kashmir Health Department about it providing world class patient care in the government hospitals have proved to be a hoax as the hospitals associated with Government Medical College here have failed to provide morning diet to patients for the past 12 days. Moreover, the top officials of Health department have turned blind eyes and are acting as mute spectators. Official sources in Health department told Early Times that authorities have failed to clear the liability of nearly Rs 1, 83, 00,000 of the suppliers. Out of the total amount Rs 69, 83, 595 are lying with SMGS Hospital Jammu, Rs 15, 74,099 with Super Specialty Hospital, Jammu, Rs 37, 67,055 with Chest Diseases Hospital, Jammu Rs 8, 84, 482 with PSY Diseases Hospital, Jammu, Rs 10, 46, 020 with Gandhi Nagar Hospital and Rs 2, 33,422 with Sarwal Hospital. Sources said that owing to lackadaisical approach of the authorities patients, admitted in Government Medical College and Hospital and its associated hospitals Jammu patients are suffering. "Nearly 30 to 40 percent patients admitted in the government hospitals, are poor. Most patients come from far-flung areas and its' difficult for them to manage the medicines and food. They depend on diet provided the government. However, the hospital of GMC hospital claimed that it had cleared some bills regarding patients' diet but due to non-availability of funds, hospital authorities failed to clear all dues. And the matter was taken up with the higher authorities of the health department. The Medical Superintendent of GMC hospital didn't pick up calls despite repeated attempts by Journo for their comment on the issue. |
