Early Times Report
JAMMU, Apr 6: Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah and his National Conference (NC) today again tried to befool the Kashmiri Pandits on much talked about Kashmiri Hindu Shrines and Temples Bill saying that People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) sabotaged its passage forcing the Government to send the Bill to Joint Selection Committee of State legislature.
Addressing a election rally at Tumal Bohri near here today organized by NC Minority Cell, Omar Abdullah exonerated his Party and its coalition partner Congress who actually were not interested in the passage of KP Shrines Bill targeted PDP and BJP for the same though both Opposition parties could have made no impact in case the collation had passed the law regarding constitution of Board to protect Hindu religious places in valley.
Abdullah playing a political jugglery tried to befool the displaced pandits again saying it was PDP and BJP who sabotaged the passage of the Bill after opposing its passage and his Party was willing for making a law in this regard. However, the CM's remarks were rejected by the displaced Pandits totally who said that it was the Congress which was not interested in passage of the Bill. Questioning Abdullah they said had the Government which enjoyed the majority in the House could have easily passed the Bill provided it was put to vote but the coalition in the heart of hearts was not willing for the same and they created a drama by making the BJP as a scapegoat whose support was of no use for the Government.
The KP activists also accused the coalition that it was hoodwinking the community on the issue and the NC back stabbed the community after breaking its promises made in this regard earlier.
Omar instead of overcoming the shortcomings of his Government regarding of solving migrants problems held PDP leader Mehbooba Mufti responsible for the same saying it was she who during the round table meeting with Prime Minister opposed the creation of facilities for migrants in Jammu as this way they will not show any willingness for return.
Mehbooba was very right in her statement as she and her Party wanted Pandits to return to their homes and hearths in Valley for restoration of composite culture by settling Pandits there. The Pandit activists ask CM that who sabotaged the employment package and why out of 6000 jobs only 1500 migrant youth were provided employment in last six years. Is this the sincerity of Omar Abdullah towards the hapless KPs asked the community members?
While opposing the CM's statement KP leaders said it was NC and not PDP or BJP which ruled the State for maximum time and the migration of Pandits is attributed a result of wrong policies of NC.Moreover there were also no takers from KPs for Omar's outbursts against the BJP Prime Ministerial candidate Narindera Modi whom the Chief Minister attacked during his speech that he did not utter a word for the hapless Pandits though he talked of Gujjars and even chose the occasion to interfere in my (CM's) family affairs by making a reference to my sister.
The KP activists say what Modi said during his Jammu rally was all acceptable to the community as he referred in all of his speeches that after coming to power he will once for all solve the problem of refugees and create such conditions in the country that no one is forced to leave his home. The Pandit activists said that KPs want such a leader to rule the country that can rid it of terrorism, price hike and corruption and naming or not naming a community has no fun for them.
They said the entire nation is supporting Modi's leadership and Pandits can't have any other choice as it was during the Vajpayee Government sincere efforts were made to settle the Kashmir issue by improving relations with Pakistan and same was shelved by UPA Government to which NC is an alliance partner.
