Fresh rain, snowfall wreak havoc; growers suffer massive damages

JAMMU, Apr 7: Fresh rains followed by snowfall in upper reaches of the state has wreaked havoc across various parts of the state.
Traffic on internal road links, Jammu-Srinagar and Jammu-Kishtwar National Highways remained suspended for several hours due to massive landslide at several places. It resulted in lot of inconvenience to the people travelling on these two important National Highways of the state.
When contacted SSP National Highway Dr. Haseeb Mughal informed the Early Times that the traffic on Jammu-Srinagar National Highway was restored at around 4 PM today after it was blocked at Panthal and Dalwas due to landslide. He said that over 6000 vehicles were cleared on Jammu-Srinagar National Highway till 8 PM.
He said that traffic on Batore-Kishtwar National Highway was also restored at around 6 PM after massive landslide was cleared at Pul Doda and advice the people not to travel on this road during evening hours due to vulnerability of the road as several hanging rocks and stones could be a fatal. He said that situation is being closely monitored after a heavy rain lashes many parts of the Doda region.
Meanwhile fresh rains followed by snowfall in many parts of the state causes damage to agriculture crops and horticulture as the flowering of many orchards got damaged due to fresh rains and snowfall, beside many trees were uprooted in many parts of the state causing huge losses to the poor farmers and orchid owners. Many house including the house of Chander Rathore son of Puran Chand resident of Drubeel Chatroo also suffered damages due to fresh rain and snowfall. Reports of fresh snowfall were received from areas like Bhaderwah, Kishtwar, Chatroo, Bhunzwah, Bhaleesa, Palmar, Marwah, Dachhan, Warwan, upper reaches of Doda and its adjoining areas also witnessed fresh snowfall. The local people of Kishtwar complaint that due to non availability of proper drainage system on Kishtwar main road, the rain water enter inside many houses causes damage to moveable property of the house owners. Many internal road links in entire state also suffered massive damages due fresh weather atrocity.
