Congress manifesto forgets Kashmir, talks discrimination | | | Early Times Report SRINAGAR, Apr 7: Though the state Congress leaders swear to safeguard Article 370 and develop Jammu and Kashmir, the election manifesto of released recently in New Delhi mentions just once that about discrimination with students of the region. The 50 page manifesto released by Congress nowhere mentions Kashmir and its political solution. It doesn't even mention the party plans about the development of the state if elected to power. However, the manifesto maintains that the party will take appropriate steps so that the problem of discrimination against the students of Jammu and Kashmir is addressed. Congress leaders maintain that the party is the real representative of the people of the state and that to take the state towards the new horizons of development is the priority of the Congress party both at New Delhi and in the state. "History stands witness to the fact that Congress party always has Kashmir and the well being of its people in priority. The leaders of Congress were always close to the state- party has never overlooked the state," claims senior Congress leader and state vice- president Ghulam Nabi Monga. He added that the strengthening of Panchayat institutions in the state was due to the efforts of Rahul Gandhi and that Congress once attaining power at New Delhi, Kashmir will be the top priority of the new government. Monga stated that the development of all the three regions of the state is among the basic concerns for the Congress and the state always has witnessed huge pace of development during the Congress regimes. |
