Early Times Report
Jammu, Apr 19: As the focus of elections shifted to Kashmir valley, the ruling National Conference (NC) is sensing rout on all three seats forcing Farooq Abdullah and his son issuing senseless statements. The National Conference has straight contest with Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on all the three seats, Anantnag, Srinagar and Baramulla where PDP has fielded Mehbooba Mufti, Tariq Hameed Qarra and Muzaffar Hussain Beig, respectively. NC on the other hand has retained the candidature of its sitting Member Parliament (MP) Mehboob Beig, Farooq Abdullah and Sharief-ud-Din Shariq. The PDP is not allowing anything to waste as its two former finance ministers are in the fray and party President is also contesting alongside them. They are putting every effort to give a huge dent to NC, which they feel could help them in forthcoming Assembly elections. Expecting tough battle ahead, NC President, Farooq Abdullah made provocative statement by saying that if had guns and bombs, that would have been used against PDP but as doesn't have the same, he is relying on votes. His son and the Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah is trying to get people on his side by leveling charges on PDP that they are the B-team of BJP in the state. But both of the NC leaders are not fighting the battle on ground as they have sensed that on April 24, 30 and on May 7, votes will be polled against their party and their candidates will lose. Like other parts of country, where Modi wave is visible, in Kashmir valley there is a strong undercurrent of PDP and NC is well aware of this fact. Since the 2009, NC has faced difficult situation and there is strong anti-incumbency against the ruling party and PDP is banking heavily on it. All PDP leaders are reaching out to the people with their agenda and asking them to come out and vote for the betterment of the state. Now, all eyes would be on how the PDP and NC go in upcoming days and who will clinch the title. |
