NC losing grip on all seats in Kashmir | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Apr 19: With political analysts predicting total rout of NC in Kashmir, the party seems to be on a slippery wicket in what once used to be its strong bastion. According to intelligence reports, there are very strong chances of even Dr Farooq Abdullah losing from the Srinagar seat. According to sources the recent attack on a journalist at Bandipora allegedly by police personnel was an indication of the growing sense of frustatation among the NC rank and file. The reporter had covered the rally on April 17 where Dr Farooq Abdulalh after addressing the rally spoke to the media persons. He said that if he had power and authority he would have attacked the People’s Democratic Party leadership. The video coverage of his statement had not only gone viral on the TV but also on the social media and evoked sharp criticism across the country. This not only put the NC in the dock but also evoked sympathy for the PDP much to the disliking of the NC. According to reports, Dr Farooq Abdullah is feeling the pinch of anti-incumbency factor in the Valley. The NC was banking on the poll boycott call of the separatist to dissuade the voters, but it is not working till now. The terrorist attacks have not till now deterred the people. The reports suggest that there is a strong possibility that voters in the Valley will follow their counterparts in Jammu who came out in large numbers to vote. The decline in militancy, the waning hold of separatists, the growing disillusionment with the NC regime and growing stature of Indian democracy have contributed a lot in the change in the mindset of the people of the Kashmir. All these developments have made NC nervous and is finding it difficult to come to terms with the new hard growing realities. The PDP is most likely to win the Anantnag seat , in Baramulla where NC has taken large lead last time, is facing tough competition as PDP has changed its candidate and fielded heavy weight Muzaffar Hussain Beigh. This is making things quite difficult for the NC leadership. Given BJP's position on Article 370 and AFSPA can we know who these NaMo emissaries were and what was on offer? Why the secrecy? (sic)" Chief Minister Omar Abdullah tweeted. |
