Mirwaiz flays Syed Ali Geelani | | | Mustansir srinagar, Apr 19: Hurriyat Conference (M) chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq today came down heavily on the hard-line separatist leader Syed Ali Geelani terming the allegations made by the octogenarian leader against him as fictitious and baseless. Launching a scathing attack against the Geelani, Mirwaiz said that the leader should look inwards' before mudslinging on others. Mirwaiz was reacting to the Geelani's recent statements in which he claimed that the BJP Prime Ministerial candidate, Narendra Modi, had sent two of his emissaries to him (Geelani) on March 22 to get a commitment for resolution of the Kashmir issue. Geelani further claimed that Modi had sent his representatives to other separatist groups as well. "Those who have said Modi's policy after he becomes PM regarding Kashmir would be soft and those who have expectations from him have actually met Modi's men in Kashmir," he said in an apparent reference to moderate separatist Mirwaiz Umar Farooq. "Who the hell is Geelani to accuse people of sell out who have inherited legacy of Kashmir movement by nourishing it with their blood," Mirwaiz said while lashing out on Geelani. He accused the octogenarian leader of "misleading the masses" and creating a "vicious environment" in the state. "It is a deliberate attempt to mislead freedom loving people of Kashmir," Mirwaiz said. Mirwaiz lashed at what he called "holier than thou" behaviour of Geelani. "Geelani thinks that he is the god father of movement but freedom movement is no one's personal property," he said. "He (Geelani) has himself participated in elections under Indian constitution 12 times," Mirwaiz said. "He has no copy right over Kashmir," he added. Mirwaiz said that Geelani who has remained in J&K Legislative Assembly and has took oath under Indian Constitution should look 'inwards' before mudslinging on others. "It is not his first statement where he has tried to prove himself right and others wrong but he has been doing this since long," Mirwaiz said, adding, "Such actions of Geelani have been very detrimental to people and movement alike and now whom does Geelani want to see dead." Mirwaiz also targeted some columnists whom he did not name and accused them of trying to prove "Geelani right and others wrong." BJP and the other separatist organization, Jamaat-e-Islami has already refuted the Geelani's claim. Ameer-i-Jamaat, Mohammad Abdullah Wani earlier denied that any representative of Modi met him. "No one from Narendra Modi or BJP met me. They might have met Geelani because he is a big leader but as far as I am concerned, nobody met me," he said. |
