SRINAGAR, Apr 19: Police has booked fire-brand separatist leader and chairman of his faction of Hurriyat Conference, Syed Ali Shah Geelani on the charges of sedition while addressing a press conference on Friday at his Hyderpora residence.
Sources in the Police Department said that an FIR has been lodged against Geelani after he talked about the resolution of Kashmir issue once the new Government is formed at the centre after the ongoing Parliamentary elections are over.
Taking a strong note of the Geelani's press conference, the Budgam police station in the Central Kashmir registered the FIR for making anti-India and inflammatory speech during the course of the press conference. Today's FIR adds to the long list of FIRs registered against Geelani on the charges of sedition both within the state and outside.

Geelani has been booked under the unlawful act for delivering an anti-India speech during his address to reporters on Friday. His statement was proactive and also anti-national," said police sources.
It would be in place to mention here that in the press conference, Geelani had said that two Kashmiri Pandits who are representatives of Bharatiya Janta Party asked for his commitment in playing a constructive role in the resolution of Kashmir issue as and when BJP comes in power with Narendra Modi being the next Prime Minister of India.
Meanwhile, two persons were arrested by the police today on the charges of targeting a Peoples' Democratic Party vehicle during a road show on the outskirts of Srinagar city on Friday.
A police official said a PDP election vehicle (JK02A-9797) fitted with public address system was on election campaign when some persons pelted stones at it and damaged its windowpanes in Brein area on Friday.
"We have arrested two persons Ghulam Mohi-ud-Din Lone, a shopkeeper and his salesman Aijaz Ahmad Shah for questioning into the yesterday's stone throwing incident," the police official said.
Police also arrested a bus conductor from Ahmad Nagar locality on charges of stone pelting after a gunfight in which two Lashkar-e-Toiba militants were killed. The conductor identified as Showkat Ahmad Shah son of Mohammad Ramzan Shah of Shah Mohalla was found involved in stone throwing incident post-encounter and was arrested by police.
In the evening police arrested some of the activists of Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) after they tried to carry out a torch procession in connection with the anti-election campaign. The JKLF activists were bundled into police vehicles and taken to the Kothi Bagh police station.
