If Modi sent emissaries to Geelani was it for abrogation of article 370?
4/19/2014 11:21:52 PM
ET Report
Jammu, Apr 19: Separatist leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani has tried to create a controversy that suits none other than the separatist leader himself and those who espouse the cause of State's secession from the country.
He has said some members of the KashmirI Pandit community called on him in New Delhi recently claiming to be emissaries of BJP Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi.
Geelani said the so-called emissaries had sought his cooperation for the resolution of Kashmir dispute.
He has neither disclosed the names of those emissaries nor spelt out their organizational identities. If somebody comes to call on Geelani claiming to be representing Narendra Modi, what problem does Geelani has in disclosing their identity? If he had disclosed their identity, his point would have been logically proved.
The fact that Geelani did not disclose names or exact organizational connections, proves nobody ever called on him on behalf of Narendra Modi and the intention of the separatist leaders statement has only been to create confusion in the minds of the people especially those living in the Valley.
The BJP has a clear and stated policy on J&K and there is no scope or even a remote possibility on the BJP accepting any compromise on this. Why and how can a party try to dangle on olive branch to someone who stands for the secession of the State from the rest of the country? How can someone who claims to discuss and debate the very existence of article 370 and stands for its abrogation ask Geelani to support him? Has Geelani accepted in principle that article 370 must be revoked? Has he accepted that J&K should continue as a part of India? Has he accepted that there should be common civil code? If he hasn't accepted things stated in the election manifesto of the person he claims having sent emissaries to him then what must have been the purpose of such a visit? Geelani must set the record straight and disclose publicly and openly who called on him, what were their names and what brief did they carry.
