Hectic night long search operation launched in Sunjwan | One addicted booked for creating hoax call about presence of suspected ultras | | Early Times Report
Jammu, June 6: Trikuta Nagar Police booked an addicted person who spread rumor of presence of militants in Sunjwan area and made the area panicky here today. Meantime Special Operation Group (SOG) and other security agencies including army conducted hectic nightlong search operation in Sunjwan an outskirt locality of winter capital which turned futile and called off today morning. The drama took place during the intervening night of June 5/6 when Police Control Room (PCR) Jammu received a call from a government employee , posted as a Chowkidar in the under construction flats of Municipal Corporation at Sunjwan claiming that a group of three militants laden with arms and ammunition intercepted him and sought details of the army camp and police stations nearby. Acting on the complaint, police stood on toe and pressed the service of Special Operation Group, district police of various police stations, army and CRPF. "On being questioned , the caller identified namely as Sawran Singh son of Sardar Singh of Nud,Samba, informed police that militants demanded water which he brought from a nearby house, police said. Police sources added that the owner of the house also had confirmed that he (watchman) took cold water from her at 2 am. She further told police that he also informed her that a group of three militants were meandering in the area who sought cold water from him on gun point. The security forces launched a massive combing operation to hunt for suspected militants particularly in the wake of the religious congregation at Radha Swami Satsang Bhavan at Vijaypur. Sources said, "Besides, service of choppers pressed into the job, a dog squad too was called in to further enhance the search operation.' The search operation continued morning at around 01000 hrs but turned futile, police sources said adding, " meantime during sustained questioning of the hoax caller spilled the beans and confessed that he was an addicted and it was under the influence of liquor he made hoax call to PCR Jammu." Later, police detained him after registering a case under section 505 RPC against FIR 109/2014. |
