According to case Vijay Kumar Sharma alias Sukhi son of Kaku Ram Sharma of Barui Akhnoor Distt Jammu suddenly went missing from his residence on the night of August 28 last year and a missing report was entered in the Daily Diary of P/S Akhnoor on 14/05/.2014 vide DD NO 40 which was finally converted into Case FIR NO 109/2014 U/S 302/201 RPC on 06/06/2014. Brief facts of the Case are that the said Vijay Kumar, who was a conductor operating with a Truck in Guwahati, Assam, had returned to his native village Barui after about two and half months to celebrate Janamashtami festival. "During the intervening night of 28/29 August 2013, he left his home after having told his old mother (Simro Devi) that he is going to village Devnagar-Nardi to see one of his relatives Kewal Sharma whom he owed some money and never returned back, police spokesperson said while sharing details of case. However, Simro Devi alongwith others who looked out for missing Vijay when asked Kewal Sharma, he briefly told Simro Devi and others that Vijay Kumar had come along with an Assamese girl late in the evening, got his money and left back. "Convinced by this, Simro Devi and the villagers did not report the matter to the Police and kept quiet, police said and added, "however with no news of his son's whereabouts pouring in even from Assam, she finally lodged his missing report at P/S Akhnoor on 14/05/2014." "During the enquiry into the mysterious missing of the said Vijay Kumar, the whole sequence of events was traced back. All those persons who were in any way acquainted with the facts of the incident were examined. Moreover, the Call Detail Records (CDRs) of all the persons even remotely connected with the incident were obtained and analyzed," police said Police said, "finally it was revealed that the said Vijay Kumar Sharma had an old enmity with the said Kewal Sharma alias Sanjay Dutt son of Late Mohan Lal Sharma resident of Village Devnagar Nardi tehsil Akhnoor who happened to be his cousin, over the sale of a piece of land measuring 3 Kanals at Barui which Kewal had purchased from him but had not made the full payment of Rs 1.2 Lakh." "Kewal Sharma has been arrested who, during his sustained interrogation, when confronted with the driver of the vehicle he used and his Call Detail Records confessed his involvement in the murder, police said adding that recovery of the weapons of offences is on the cards. Quoting the confession of crime by accused, police said, "On the fateful night, Vijay Kumar went to the house of alleged accused Kewal Sharma to seek his balance of payment where both of them had heated arguments followed by a scuffle during which Kewal Sharma hit Vijay Kumar with a big stone over his head who fell down and died. Kewal Sharma removed the dead body from the spot and concealed it in his fields under weeds and bushes. "The next day i.e. on August 29, Kewal hired a vehicle and went to the isolated bridge over Chenab River at village Tung then visited Akhnoor wherefrom he purchased a bag, police said, adding, " asked the driver of the vehicle to pick him up the next day early morning as he has to proceed to Patnitop with his friends who are to be received over Chenab bridge at Tung." Revealing crime confession by accused, police said, "On the intervening night of 29/30 August, Kewal allegedly chopped the body of Vijay Kumar into pieces and packed them into an iron trunk and the bag he had purchased during the day." "In the wee hours of August 30 last year, the accused called the driver of the vehicle Ranjeet Kumar Verma alias Sanu of Devnagar Nardi on his mobile who within no time reached the house of Kewal Sharma who then loaded both the bag and the trunk in the vehicle JK02BB-4460 and left for Chenab Bridge at Tung, police said, adding, "on reaching the center of the bridge, Kewal took out the bag and the trunk from the vehicle saying that the same shall be loaded in his friend's vehicle which is a non-AC vehicle and that he with his friends shall travel in this AC vehicle." "Thereafter Kewal pretended having called his so called friends from his Mobile and then got infuriated over them for failing to have reached there and in a pretended fit of anger, Kewal threw the bag and the trunk into the Chenab and told the driver to drop him back at his place while continuously abusing his imaginary friends for having deceived him, police added. Meantime, Kewal Sharma purposefully spread rumors of the said Vijay Kumar having married an Assamese girl and having gone back to Guwahati, Assam besides managing rumors in air that Vijay Kumar was seen in Akhnoor town and elsewhere well over few months after the incident. A case in this regard against FIR NO 109/2014 u/S 302/201 RPC has been registered at P/S Akhnoor and investigation is going on. Police spokesperson said that case has been worked out by Insp Bharat Sharma under the close supervision of Farooq Qaiser, SDPO Akhnoor. Atul Goel, SSP Jammu and Mohan Lal Kaith, SP (Rural) Jammu who also had appreciated the role of Akhnoor police in solving this cold blooded murder. |
