Alleged molestation of staff nurse | | | Mustansir SRINAGAR, June 6: Jammu and Kashmir Police today registered a case against Director Health Services Kashmir Dr Saleem-ur-Rehman for reported sexual assault on a nurse on Thursday. Official sources said the victim approached Shaheed Gunj police Station on Thursday with a complaint that her officers tried to molest her in Srinagar. "A case has been registered against Director Health Services Kashmir after a nurse complained of molestation," SHO Shaheed Gunj said. Police have also registered cases against Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Anantnag Dr Nissar Ahmad and Block Medical Officer (BMO) Saller Pahalgam, Dr Arshid Hussain Tak under section 354 RPC (assault or criminal force against woman with intent to outrage her modesty) in Police Station Shaheed Gunj here. A case under FIR 46/2014 has been registered against the trio and police have started further investigation in this regard. Meanwhile, CMO Anantnag Dr Nissar Ahmad said that the allegations leveled against him by the lady were 'false and fabricated'. "Actually the lady (nurse) does not want to perform her duties under rules. She wants to hijack entire department according to her wishes and whims," a news agency quoted Nisar as having said. Taj Mohi-ud-Din, Health & Medical Education Minister said today that he will order an inquiry into the allegations of sexual assault. "I am going to order a probe into the matter," Taj said. Commissioner Secretary Health would probe into the matter. In February this year, a case was registered against former Minister of State for Health and senior Congress leader Shabir Ahmad Khan in the same police station. |
