anantnag, June 11: After facing embarrassing defeat in recently held Parliamentary elections, National Conference senior leader and former Member Parliament Dr Mehboob Beigh today directly blamed Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and party leadership for the debacle.
He also blamed a senior leader for allowing back door entries' in Jammu and Kashmir Bank and ignoring party leadership in district board meetings.
Addressing a gathering at his residence in Sarnal area of Anantnag district on the eve of 32nd death anniversary of his father Mirza Mohammad Afzal Beigh, Dr Mehboob Beigh said, "it is because of our policies that people of the state especially youth voted against us in the recently held elections." Adding if the party leadership not introspected well, National Conference has to reface the defeat in upcoming Assembly elections too.
Dr Beigh said that Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and senior National Conference leadership ignored South Kashmir on developmental front which resulted party's root out in this Southern region. "What this Government did in past five years in this south Kashmir? Nothing, "he said.
Without naming People's Democratic Party Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, Dr Mehboob Beigh praised him and said, "People voted for them (PDP) because they have made huge contributions in terms of development. University camps and 300 bedded hospital facility is because of them (PDP) what our Government did is questionable."
Beigh accused a senior leader of allowing back door entries in the JK Bank.
Accepting defeat, Beigh said he had time in advance apprised the leadership about his apprehensions but leadership ignored them.
"Before polls I have apprised the leadership about the loopholes but they went on while ignoring my apprehensions and if they not introspected right now May 16 may get automatically repeated and PDP will win the polls again," he maintained.
Singling a divide in the party, interestingly no single party flag was hoisted at the venue while as few local leaders of the party turned to attend the event which was organized for observing the 32nd death anniversary of Mirza Mohmmad Afzal Beigh.
