Farooq cracks crude jokes | Talks about Kashmiri nationalism, demographic changes | | ET Report SRINAGAR, June 11: National Conference Party President Dr. Farooq Abdullah today tried to play the communal card by shedding crocodile tears over so-called demographic changes in the state. Surprisingly he talked about Kashmiri nationalism. Farooq has always talked about validity of accession, Indian nationalism. The only time he challenged accession was in 2007 while releasing a book at Jammu. That time Farooq was in opposition. Today he talked about Kashmiri nationalism when he is recovering from the shock of losing an important election to a junior. Farooq also cracked a crude joke when he said the destiny of the state was connected with the destiny of NC. Farooq, perhaps lives in a make believe world. Does he not know that gone are the days when hearts would beat for NC in Kashmir. Agreed Sadiq and Mufti compromised state's special status but what happened in 1974-75. The most important condition of the accord (restoration of autonomy) found place at the bottom of the accord. It was remitted to principals and till date the principals have not met neither has Farooq or Omar asked for a meeting of the principals till date. And when same persons talk about restoration of autonomy, it makes no sense. Jis Kashmir ko Khoon Say seecha….. This worn out slogan was repeatedly used by Sheikh Abdullah to blackmail Kashmiris but now they have decided enough is enough. |
