Cong unlikely to go with NC, candidates list being finalised | | | Javaid Naikoo
JAMMU, July 11 : With all eyes on possible National conference (NC) and congress pre-poll alliance for upcoming assembly elections, rumours are rife that Sonia Gandhi is likely to give nod for contesting alone and announce list of candidates in a day. Wishing anonymity, one fresh candidate of state Congress said that as all the top brass leaders of state Congress including Ghulam Nabi Azad, Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress committee (JKPCC) chief Saif-ud-din Soz and Ghulam Ahmed Mir are adamant on contesting upcoming assembly elections alone in Jammu and Kashmir, Congress President Sonia Gandhi has indicted to go alone in assembly elections and is likely to finalize list of candidates pending with her from last fifteen days. "It will be announced in a day or two formally. I am with all the state Congress leaders from the time list of candidates was sent to Delhi for final nod. I can assure you that there will be no NC-Congress pre-poll alliance as no leader of state has given his nod for pre-poll alliance. This has forced Sonia Gandhi to change her decision and go alone in Jammu and Kashmir,"said the congress leader. Sources said that as this time many new faces are in the list of candidates pending with Sonia Gandhi, so thorough analyses of names of candidates projected by state congress leadership is going on based on constituency wise reports sough from state congress workers. "After Omar Abdullah two days back announced one of its candidates in North Kashmir and claimed to form next government alone, state congress leaders informed high command and requested it to finalize list of candidates at an earliest." sources added. Pertinently addressing a workers convention in North Kashmir's Lolab constituency, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah announced Kaiser Jamsheed Lone as the party candidate for the upcoming assembly elections from the area. Omar while addressing party workers said that "I hope that you will work very hard to ensure that the party emerges as s ingle largest party in the forthcoming assembly elections." and added that he took the results emerged during recent Lok Sabha elections in Jammu and Kashmir in which NC lost all three seats in Kashmir positively and the same according to him have given his part a flip to the party activities, resulting party had to brought certain changes in Party structure which according to Omar Abdullah has benefited NC on ground. |
