Consumers high & dry, CAPD caught napping | Jammuties aghast over soaring prices of essentials | | Mohd Irfan
Srinagar, July 11: The holy month of Ramadan and the Amarnath Yatra has witnessed massive price hike of essential commodities. The people have accused the CAPD of inaction. The consumers in the Jammu outskirts complained against profiteering & hoarding by the traders to affect undue increase in the prices of eatables. They alleged that department left us at the mercy of vegetable vendors who are arbitrarily fixing the rates. Prior festivals Divisional Commissioner Jammu held a meeting of different departments and review arrangements and to regulate the prices of commodities but it won't serve the purpose as things on ground are different to that. The hike in vegetable prices have made the life of 'aam aadmi' difficult . The hike has falsified the BJP slogan `Ache Din', people by and large believe. A consumer said "peas are sold for Rs 60 kg which was once sold for Rs 20 kg. She added which ever vegetable we take it is costly it irked us as this rate is out of reach for us and taking a dig at Modi sarkaar for making the vegetables so dare. The concerned Minister also chaired a meeting to plug the loopholes in the department as complained of masses pouring in from different quarters but CAPD officials are virtually incompetent to make the system work. When contacted Director CAPD Jammu G S CHIB Said "implementation of rate list is not poor and is far better and there is acute shortage of staff to cope up the implementation of things as sanctioned. When asked about the soaring prices of vegetables and they vary from one place to other, he evaded an answer. In response to question he said" from tomorrow I will instructed the officials to go for market checking and make the checking of eatables and later he thanks for apprising me about this "he asserted. |
