Three Amarnath yatris die, toll 28 | | | Early Times Report
Srinagar, July 13 : Three more pilgrims from Gujarat and Punjab died, taking the toll to 28 since the commencement of annual pilgrimage to holy Amarnath cave shrine from June 28. A total of about two lakh yatris have so far paid obeisance to the self-made ice-lingam in the cave shrine situated at 12,000 feet of south Kashmir Himalayas, till last night. Officials said 55-year-old Sarooji Gandhi died due to a massive cardiac arrest at Poshpathri on traditional Pahalgam-cave route last night. They said 24-year-old Bharat Vidya, resident of Hanumanpora, Joshpora, Gujarat complained breathlessness near the holy cave shrine. However, he was immediately shifted to a nearby medical camp, from where he was referred to base camp hospital. However, he died later, they said. One 60-year-old Inderjeet, resident of Bathendi, Punjab, also complainted of breathlessness at Brarimarg. He was also shifted to base hospital, where he died. |
