Jammu, July 21 : Taking the cognizance of the news item published in the Early Times in its July 15 edition, the GMC and Associate Hospital authorities are mulling to extend the existing facilities of blood blank. The Principal of GMCH Dr. Ganshyam Dev, while speaking to ET, said that all facilities are being made available to the patients as proposal in this connection has been forwarded to the Health Ministry . Some tests of blood which were expensive and not available in the hospital would be added to the existing facilities on subsidized rates. The steps have been taken on the complaints that some doctors have allegedly been hand in glove with the private laboratories. Pertinently, to curb the menace of nexus, the purchase committee has already sanctioned Rs 45 lakh for installation of the analyzer machine of Abbot company in SMGS hospital for complete and expensive blood tests which include Thyroid, Biochemistry, Hormone etc on subsides rate. Speaking on the ongoing inquiry against a doctor who allegedly had entered into unholy nexus with private diagnostic center, the Principal said that the SHO concerned, who held a youth carrying sample of blood from the emergency wing of the hospital, was called in the hospital for his view. Speaking on the lift which is laying defunct in the hospital , he said that the same would be resumed with in days to come as its repair was in progress.
Worthwhile to mention here , Early Times published a news item highlighting the unholy nexus between doctors and private clinic/ laboratories within the Government Medical College and Hospital (GMC&H) Jammu which was exposed after a technician of a private laboratory near GMC&H was caught red handed and was handed over to police for further action.
A para medical staff/ technician working with a private diagnostic lab situated near GMC&H was seen collecting blood samples of a patient in emergency ward and consequently he was caught by some attendants, . During questioning by the attendant, he ( the technician) admitted that he is working with a private diagnostic center and was sent there by his owner to collect blood samples.
Meanwhile the attendants who objected to the collection of blood sample without their knowledge handed over the technician to police for further action. Following the reports, Principal GMC&H DrGhanshyamDev initiated departmental action against the doctor for his alleged role in unholy nexus.
