Former legislators, sarpanchs oppose Rana's candidature | | | MS Nazki
Mendhar, July 21: Expressing displeasure over party decision of giving mandate to Deputy Chairman Legislative Council and National Conference leader Javed Ahmand Rana from Medhar Constituency in coming assembly election, several leaders, former legislators and Sarpaches of the area criticized the decision and boycotted the rally organized by Jeved Rana at Dak Bungalow Mendar. Sources told Early Times that after getting party mandate, Rana had organized a rally in which 16 Gujjar Panchayats, 17 Pahari Panchayats boycotted the rally. Former minister Nisar Ahmad Khan, Ex legislator Ikhlaq Khan, president Mendar Sarpanches Association Shokat Ahmad Choudhary strongly resented the decision of giving mandate to Rana. They said that we had sent a list of panel of candidates to party high command in which Javed Rana's name was not included but despite our request to give mandate to one of the person in the list, party gave mandate to the Javed Rana by brushing aside the aspiration of the public. They said that we met to party president Farooq Abdullah, Chief Minister and working president Omar Abdullah, general secretary Ali Mohammad Sagar and provincial president and urged them to give party ticket to the person among the list prepared by them. They alleged that despite assurances by them, the party ticket was given to Javed Rana which is not acceptable to us. They threatened to leave the party if the decision was not revoked we will field independent candidate. |
