Project management blamed for pandemonium | Work at 850 Rattle HEP suspended on 11th consecutive day | | Asif Iqbal Naik
Kishtwar, July 21: The work at 850 MW Rattle Hydro Electrical Power Project Kishtwar remained suspended for 11th consecutive day today as the deadlock between the principal contractor GVK powers limited, L&T and agitating unemployed Youths continued as both the companies engaged in project work failed to employ unemployed local youths in the project as per the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed between the company and the state government . In order to end the deadlock between the various stake holders and the GVK, Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar Mohammad Javed Khan held a series of meetings with representatives of various associations of unemployed youth including Unemployed Engineers Association led by Atul Gupta, CPPWU Javed Ahmed Sheikh, BJYM led by ShashiBadyal and others. While addressing the various representatives of the unemployed youths, DC Kishtwar called for early resumption of the work at project site so that more and more unemployed youths could be recruited. DC Kishtwar informed the leaders that District Administration was keeping a close eye on the recruitment process of the company and added that administration will not allow the company to recruit any person from outside. He reiterated that administration and the government were committed to safe guard the interest of the local unemployed youths as well as the development of the local area under Reconstruction and Rehabilitation Program. Meanwhile employees working in the project also called on DC Kishtwar and demanded immediate release of pending wages of all the employees working in the project. DC Kishtwar after giving patience hearing to their demands assured them that he will take up the matter with project management during his next meeting schedule to be held in couple of days. |
