Court grants bail to Army driver | Fatal Bemina mishap | | Early Times Report
Srinagar, July 21 : Chief Judicial Magistrate Srinagar today granted bail to army driver, accused in the deadly accident that left seven people dead on Srinagar-Baramulla road at Zainakote here on last Wednesday. Chief Judicial Magistrate Srinagar, Virender Singh Bhou granted the bail to Havaldar Krishan Singh of 51 Rashtriya Rifles against the bail bond of Rs 20000 ordered the Commanding Officer of the Unit to produce him before investigating officer if and when required reasonably, He accused has been asked not temper with the evidence or hamper the investigation directly or indirectly not to leave the territorial jurisdiction of the court without prior permission. "The offence committed by the accused is henious in nature and non-bailable one," the Chief prosecution Officer said and urged court to rejection of bail application. On the other hand, the driver submitted that is deeply rooted in the society and there are mitigating and extenuating circumstances which lean in his favour. He said that his liberty cannot be curtailed on flimsy grounds and said that the investigation is almost complete. Seven persons were killed and two others critically injured on Wednesday last after an army's recovery truck rammed into a taxicab near Hokersar wetland on the outskirts of Srinagar. The accident triggered massive anti-India demonstrations in the area. Forces had to burst teargas canisters and warning shots to clear Srinagar-Baramulla from protesters, who had blocked it. |
