Workers stage protest against BBF, demand pending wages

Samba, July 21: Hundreds of factory workers, under the aegis of State Centre Labor Union staged protest demonstration against Bharat Box Factory Industries demanding release of pending wages of workers at Jammu Pathankot National Highway in main Chowk Samba.
Workers led by Nahar Singh, President, State Center Labour Union staged against the alleged violation of labour laws in Bharat Box factory (BBF). The factory workers gathered at main Chowk Samba and took out a procession and raised slogans in support of their demands.
Workers urged the Government to issue directives to the management of Bharat Box Factory (BBF) Industries to pay the pending wages of workers at the earliest as their families are at the verge of starvation. "Workers alleged that factory management has suspended work from last four months and workers comprising men and women.
They informed that they have not paid for last four months and the labor department had failed to take strict action against the erring factory owner.
Workers said that government established the industries in Samba sector with the sole purpose of boosting economy of the people and providing employment to the youth but the same has been broken after the industrialists close their units by taking the benefit of subsidy," said Rajinder Kumar, President, Labour Union, Samba.
We demanded that in case the Bharat Box Factory (BBF) Industries has to be close, the workers be given life claim as given in case of Hindustan Liver Ltd and Bhilwara Group of Industries at Bari Brahmana," said Poli Devi, Bimla Devi, Santosh Devi etc.
