Jammu, July 21: Senior Advocate and prominent citizen of Jammu Mohinder Bhardwaj said despite unique potential of agro produce of Bishnah town which has been hit hard on account of total neglect by the state authorities in the past yet agro infrastructure has to be maintained and upgraded to ensure that the farmers do not suffer anymore. Addressing a well attended meeting of the residents of Rehal, Kothe Saini, Shahpur, Saidgarh, Karail and adjoining areas here on Sundayevening, Bhardwaj asked the state government to immediately focus on the problems of the area which directly relates to farmers and have direly hit the agricultural produce in the past seasons. The agro infrastructure has to be maintained and upgraded to ensure that the farmers do not suffer anymore. Bhardwaj stressed on the urgency of taking up these works in view of fast approaching Rabi season. An emergency plan should be formulated by the authorities to take up repair of roads and irrigation network and ensure better supply of drinking water so that farmers are able to produce better crops ahead that will also help improve their economic condition. Talking about the potential of Rehal and adjoining areas, Bhardwaj reiterated that entire Bishnah should be developed as a satellite zone with these areas as its green lungs. It is possible to conceive a unique model of development for the entire zone aimed at its overall development without disturbing the agricultural character for which the area is known. Bhardwaj suggested that on the lines of developing Bishnah as a satellite town of Jammu, important townships like Rehal can be conceived as satellite hubs of Bishnah in order to ensure that this headquarter is not clogged in the years to come and it is inevitable now to stop development of Bishnah on a bigger scale. |
