Vakil hails party's decision to go along in Assembly polls | | | Srinagar, July 21: Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) vice president Abdul Gani Vakil today hailed the decision of party high command for going all alone in the forthcoming Assembly elections. According to press release, he said that the decision will help the party to get back its lost credibility and honour. Vakil said that though it was the prerogative of the high command either to accord sanction to the poll alliance or to fight the elections all alone, but it has prioritized and respected the aspirations of the rank and file of the party. Former Minister said that the decision is completely in the national interest besides it will help the party to secure its political space as well in the state. Congress has never fought elections with a single motive to grab power but has aimed to strengthen the democratic system of the country and ensure larger participation of the people, Vakil added. He said that it is evident from the fact that Congress allowed Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah, Mufti Mohammad Syeed and Omar Abdullah to become Chief Ministers of the State despite having multiple options at the disposal at that point of time. Former Minister said that for achieving the aforesaid goals, the present situation and current political scenario in the state demands that Congress must come out of the Government and support it from outside for remaining period so that there is no place for conflict of interests and Congress does not receive any new jolt for poor performance or governance deficit. |
