Various organisations demand action against stone crushers in Ujh | | | Early Times Report Kathua, July 21: Several organizations urged the State Government to take serious and stern action against the stone crushers installed in Ujh River near "Pandori" in Kathua and protect the health and wealth of the river. While expressing their grave concerns over the on the issue of setting up of crushers, the Non- Governmental Organizations (NGOs) SPEAK and SOIL, said that after Ravi river the stone crusher owners have been eyeing on Ujh river for mining. They said some stone crushers are already operational since long while some are in bid to install their machinery near "Pandori." NGO activists alleged this will further ravage the environment at a great extent. "If timely steps are not taken by the district administration and state government in this regard, the "Ujh River" will die at its death in its youth. Several protest demonstrations and dharnas have been organized to draw attention of district administration in this regard but all in vain. Protestors threatened if administration fails to check activities the organization would be forced to come to hold protest demonstrations against the stone crushers. |
