After Omar and Soz, Tarigami accuses Modi of being biased against Kashmir
Hate-campaign in Valley

JAMMU, Aug 13: CPI-M state secretary Mohammad Yousuf Tarigami on Tuesday also joined the anti-Narendra Modi gang and accused him of being biased against Kashmir. "He came to Jammu, met people and journalists there and in Ladakh he repeated the same process.
My question to him is why he is not visiting Srinagar and meeting people and journalists here…His (Modi's) actions give an impression that he is intentionally ignoring the people of Kashmir especially Srinagar," he was quoted as saying in Srinagar. "He should visit Srinagar and take stock of the ground situation. If he talks about the equal development of three regions of the state of Jammu and Kashmir then there should be no reason in avoiding Srinagar. So far an impression has been given to the people of Kashmir, that prime minister of India has ignored them and he is in no mood to visit here and meet the people," Tarigami also reportedly said. His whole refrain was that Prime Minister Modi is "shying away" from the people of Kashmir.
Earlier in July and between August 7 and 10, NC working president and J&K Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, J&KPCC chief Saifuddin Soz and a number of anti-Jammu and anti-Ladakh and pro-separatist members of the so-called Kashmiri civil society like Siddiq Wahid of Kashmir University had charged the Narendra Modi Government with adopting anti-Kashmir attitude and pampering Jammu and Ladakh. Each one of them accused the Union Government of adopting step-motherly treatment towards Kashmir. Their grouse was that the Modi Government announced an Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) for Jammu and didn't sanction any such institute for Kashmir. Omar Abdullah had described the decision as "blatantly discriminatory and lop-sided". Soz had termed the decision anti-Muslim, anti-Kashmir and a challenge for "secular India. Wahid and others of his ilk had condemned the Union Government for "handing goodies" to Jammu and Ladakh. Neither Omar nor Soz thought even once the implications of what they said about Jammu and Ladakh, the state's two other important regions, which return to the assembly 41 members.
Their whole approach was parochial, provocative and had the potential of further eroding the support-base of the Congress and the NC, which only in May suffered a massive defeat in the Lok Sabha election. They proved by their words and actions that they had no place in their scheme of things for Jammu and Ladakh and that their own interest was in Kashmir, which also decimated the NC-Congress coalition candidates in the Lok sabha election. The worst part of the whole situation has been the stoic silence of the Jammu and Ladakh-based NC and Congress leaders. Not a single NC or Congress leader mustered courage to question the stand of their leadership on Jammu and Ladakh. By keeping their mouth shut, they further damaged the poll prospects of their parties in these two ignored and marginalized provinces. As for Tarigami whose support-base is limited to a few pockets in Kulgam assembly constituency, less said the better. Suffice to say that, like other Kashmiri leaders, behaved in a most irresponsible manner hoping the adoption of anti-Modi attitude could help him in the upcoming assembly elections. This is not going to happen.
