Ruling Abdullah family in BJP's line of fire | | | Jammu, Aug 13: The ruling Abdullah family of the State is in BJP's line of fire. And fearing strong reaction, the chief minister is trying to bridge the gap with the Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Prime Minister Modi while addressing a rally at Kargil had said he will root out corruption and will not allow anyone to indulge in corrupt practice. He said this in the presence of the NC working president and CM Omar Abdullah. His statement comes a day after BJP president Amit Shah had said J&K government has crossed all limits of the corruption. He had also said the country has to be rid of Abdullah and Gandhi families. The PM reiterating the words of the party president, who incidentally is his close confidant, suggest that Abdullah family is on the card of the Modi government and it's waiting for right time to make a right move. "Abdullah family never enjoyed support of the hard core BJP section but managed to stay float by nurturing section within the party. But with Modi and Amit Shah running the government and the party, it's closed chapter for the NC's attempt to woo it," said a senior BJP leader. Sensing the trouble ahead, the CM has changed its approach toward the PM, who calls the shots in the party. A day before Omar said he would not even shake hands with the BJP, he in a strong contrast in his approach towards the PM, when he visited Katra, Omar was seen trying to cozy up with the Modi and also was seen as being hospitable and sharing lighter moment with him, which he didn't do in the Jammu. "Omar has sensed that his party is definitely on a slippery wicket. He also knows that government formation after the Assembly elections would be difficult task and in case of fractured verdict the role of the BJP would be crucial and it's the party ruling the Centre which has all the investigation agencies and files under his control. He is doing his last bit," said the BJP leader. |
