HC directs CS to file objection or remain present in person
Petition challenging tenure of JK Assembly

Jammu, Aug 28: In a petition filed by one Balraj Bakshi challenging the tenure of J&K Legislative Assembly from five years to six years and seeking quashment of section 1 of section 2 of the constitution of Jammu & Kashmir State incorporated by 16th Amendment of 1977 dated 17th February 1997 terming it to be against the basic structure of the constitution of Jammu & Kashmir state.
Justice Janak Raj Kotwal after hearing Sr. Advocate SS Lehar with Adv Meharban Singh appearing for the petitioner whereas AAG HA Siddiqui appearing for the state, granted one more opportunity for filling objections, failing which, given the nature of question raised in petition, Chief Secretary J&K shall remain present in person at the time of motion of hearing on the next date of hearing.
