SRINAGAR, Aug 28: As the Hurriyat leadership is busy in chalking out the poll boycott strategy, people across the Valley including amalgam's own grass root workers seem upbeat about the coming Assembly election.
People close to Hurriyat can be seen discussing election related issues these days and some of them could be heard saying that 'Enough is enough' and as per them it is the right time and the right opportunity to make their future better.
This correspondent came in contact with a group of such people in the outskirts of the Srinagar city, who seemingly were absorbed, talking in length the coming Assembly election. When Early Times wanted to know their opinion about the coming Assembly elections, these people confessed that by keeping themselves away from the elections they are acting as their own enemies. In Soibugh, the native village of HM commander Salah-u-Din, and in the villages adjacent to it, the election fever is even higher with the people from socio-religious organization of Jammat-e-Islami looking keener to take part in the elections this time.
Once the den of militants, the village is now persuading hard a popular man from the Jammat to contest the coming assembly elections from the Budgam constituency. "We want to have a representative from our own area if our area has to progress, if it has to come out of the darkness, if it is to witness some healthy changes," said Ghulam Mohammad, a Jamat influenced man from the Soibugh Budgam.
The amazing thing was that Ghulam Mohammad was seen along with the people who track their association with the National Conference. Political observers say that the participation of the people in the elections who otherwise have ideological differences, is going to make a big turnaround on the political front of the state. If it happens, as the experts believe, it will be like a high magnitude earthquake in the camps of the separatists.
