Jammu, Aug 28: The administration of Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) is reportedly misleading the Labour Officer Circle - III Jammu, as in the fresh communiqué, former has claimed that salaries till December have been paid to workers, while the workers have contested the same as misleading. According to sources, taking cognizance of news report carried by Early Times on August 23, 2014, under title "GMCH administration violates labour laws, Paying aid skilled workers Rs. 150 per day, more than 120 workers without salaries since year", the Labour officer had shot a letter to Executive Engineer of Mechanical Hospital and Central Heating division (MHCH). The Labour officer had sought a clarification from the ExEn regarding the status of salaries paid to workers of MHCH division but surprisingly in reply to the communiqué, the officer of MHCH forwarded a letter on Aug 26, in which it has been mentioned that division had paid wages upto November and December 2013, while 14 employees of Sub division-II have received wages upto August 2013. According to letter number MHDJ/ESTT,1932-36, which is in possession of Early Times, the Executive Engineer (Mechanical) Hospital and Central Heating division, GMCH Jammu to Labour officer Circle-III Jammu it has been maintained that the division has paid wages upto November and December 2013@ Rs. 150 per day and Rs. 4500 per month to all the need basis workers working in Government Medical College/Super Specialty Hospital and Associated Hospital including government SMGS hospital and government CD hospital. Contesting the claims of Executive Engineer, daily wagers working in SMGS maintained that 14 employees of Sub- division II (SMGS and CD Hospital) have received wages only upto August 2013. "How disgusting it is that an Executive Engineer has sent a wrong communication to Labour officer", a daily wager said. They further said that poor employees didn't raise their voice apprehending victimization. |
