Eight dead, two injured in Banihal mishap
Killer roads gulp more!

Srinagar, Aug 28 : In another tragic accident in Chenab valley, at least eight persons died while two others were injured when a TATA Sumo in which they were traveling skidded off the road at Nachlana village in Ramban district.
As per the details, the ill fated TATA Sumo bearing registration No JK19-1902 was on its way from Nachlana to Mahumangat in Banihal Tehsil of Ramban District while reaching near Nachlana some 14 KM from Banihal fell into 300 meters deep gorge after drive lost control over the vehicle resulting into instant death of eight persons, while two others were seriously injured and shifted to nearby hospital. As soon as the news of the accident reached Banihal town, senior officials of police, administration, army personal from nearby area along with large number of local people rush to the spot and started rescue and relief operation. The rescue team brought the dead bodies and the injured to emergency hospital Banihal from where they were referred to SKIMS Srinagar for advance treatment. As per police, the deceased were identified as Mohammad Shafi Sehmat son of Mohammad Akbar Sehmat resident of Khauda Khari , Saima Banoo daughter of Mohammad Akbar resident of Talab Nachlana Banihal, Mohammad Rouf son of Mohammad Akbar Naik resident of Talab Nachlana ,Rubeena Begum wife of Mohammad Shameem resident of Talab Nachlana (Anganwari worker), Zahida Banoo daughter of Ghulam Rasool Naik resident of Talab Nachlana, Janna Begum wife of Mohammad Ismail Dang resident of Tajnihal Banihal,Shaista Banoo daughter of Gulzar Ahmed Sohail resident of Talab Nachlana and Master Mohammad Ismail son Jamal Din Dang resident of Tajnihal Banihal. The two injured persons were identified as Hamida Begum wife of Rouf Ahmed resident of Khaura Talab Banihal and Irfan Ahmed son of Mohammad Ismail resident of Tajnihal Banihal. The officials said that the ill fated vehicle was travelling on a local interior route with local passengers on board when the accident took place.
