Policy paralysis, lack of vision a roadblock for grooming sportsmen

Jammu, Aug 31: While there is no dearth of sports talent in the state particularly in Jammu but the lack of vision and policy paralysis in Jammu & Kashmir State Sports Council is becoming a big roadblock in grooming the budding players in a proper manner due to which several sports persons are not able to display their hidden prowess at national and international stage.
Reliable sources rued with Early Times that the Sports council of Jammu lacks sports policies owing to the fact there is no special training camps for the budding talent preparing for various national level and international level as all others councils of the state organize. The sources also said that the Sports council Srinagar have organized special summer camps at Srinagar for various games like Gymnastics, Basketball, Thang-ta , Football etc. for which some of the coaches from Jammu division were called to train the sportsperson at Srinagar.
A bunch of sportsperson when contacted said that still, there is no special camp in Jammu like summer special camp for various games this year.
They also said that even for the provisional pre-training camp of 21 days and 15 days before any national event, the players were deprived of refreshment either in cash amount of Rs. 100 or as foodstuff.
Several attempts to contact Dilip Thusoo, Secretary Sports council Jammu went in vain as he was not available to answer the call.
Sports officer Rajan Sharma when contacted by Early Times said, "We do organize the special camps for special trainings in Jammu". He further added saying that the 21 days pre training camp is organized by the Association and Sponsored by the council for the refreshment but due to non availability of funds within the council administration, the associations were ordered to give refreshment to the players , the expenses for which would be refunded to the association by the council later. He again said that the Council is not responsible for the deprival of refreshment to the players in pre-training camps.
