MHBFC demands special leave for Govt employees working in Kashmir | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Sept 9: Muzaffar Hussain Baig Friend's Club (MHBFC) today appealed the state government to sanction special leave for the government employees working in Kashmir and flood affected areas of Jammu region. Naveen Jain Chairman of Muzaffar Hussain Baig Friend's Club in a press statement today said that Jammu and Kashmir is battling one of the worst floods in decades with rivers in the region in spate due to days of incessant rain. He said that most of the residential and commercial areas of the Srinagar city have been submerged in flood water making it difficult for people to contact for help. Jain said that in several areas, the water levels are reportedly as high as 12 feet, submerging entire houses. While television and radio stations were cut off, the mobile towers were damaged as well. He said that a communication collapse, compounded by a blackout over the past four days in Jammu and Kashmir, has rendered mobile phones useless. Jain said that they hope that those from Jammu were safe and only lack of communication facilities is preventing them from keeping their families informed. He appealed the state and centre government to arrange special choppers to airlift government employees and students of Jammu region and start a special helpline for the families of the trapped people in Kashmir. |
