JAMMU, Sept 9: Jammu artist, Chander Parkash returned from the neighbouring China after making his maiden attempt on ceramic sculpture during the 3rd International Ceramic Sculpture symposium, organised by the Tourism of Changchun, recently. Already to his credit 15 such events at the international level, Chander has distinguished himself in the field of visual arts. His works on stone and wood have already been acknowledged at different forums within and outside the country during all these years of freelance work. "There were around 30 artists in this conference including those from Italy, Ukraine, Spain Russia, Bulgaria, Mexico, London and Hungary. Besides me, Sirij Sexsana and Anju represented the country in this symposium," informed Chander Parkash on his return. He also attended the two-day 4th International Sculpture Conference, wherein 100 artists, art historian and art critics held deliberations on contemporary sculpture in the world. Chander Parkash did his Bachelors degree in Fine Arts from University of Jammu and Masters in Sculpture from MS University, Baroda. He has been honoured for his works at the state, national and international levels. "Chander's art figures are reflection of Mohras, one can easily find at Bouli springs. It is always on his mind to reflect the tradition of Jammu and Udhampur districts through his sculptures," said Dr Kamal Sharma of Institute of Music and Fine Arts (IMFA). |
