Sikh Societies demand enhancement in relief package | | | Jammu, Sept 9: J&K Sikh Societies Amalgamate today held a meeting to discuss latest situation arising out of devastating Flood. Gurdeep Singh Sasan Chief Patron of the Amalgamate after visiting some flood affected areas chaired the meeting apprised the members about the worst prevailing situations. The meeting urged the central Government to enhance relief package from One Thousand Crore to Ten Thousand Crore keeping in view the magnanimity of disaster and Havoc. The meeting urged the Central government to take immediate steps and rush Boats, air drop food, drinking water and other necessary items to the effected families. Sasan further said that there is dire need for reaching out to for flung areas where people are facing a lot of hardship and miseries. Sasan expressed his apprehension about post flood effects and urged the administration to gear up and take prevention measures before any epidemic breaks out. Sasan appealed to the Nation to come forward and contribute generously for the needy members of our large family: He expressed solidarity with the hapless members of the society. Sasan appreciated the forsighted efforts of Omar Abdullah in tackling the situation and thanked the Govt. of India for having aceded to the request of Chief Minister and declared J&K Floods as National disasters. Sasan Lauded the role played by three defence forces and others agencies involved and salutes for their commendable jobs in reaching out to effected people in rescuing and providing them other basic facilities. |
