SSF urges Chancellor JU for 10 years audit of electric works | | | Jammu, Sept 9 : Sept 9: Student Scholar Forum (SSF) today urged Chancellor of Jammu University, NN Vohra to direct the Jammu University administration to conduct audit of all electrical works, done by a lone contractor for the last ten years in varsity. Addressing media persons at Jammu University, Student Scholar Forum President Sunil kumar said that in the last 10 years, one former-student leader of Jammu University had been blackmailing the Vice Chancellors of varsity and had been helping his brother (contractor-Titu) to secure contracts for the last 10 years. "How it is possible that one person has been getting contracts for all electrical works for the last 10 years and none other contractor succeed to get the bid", he said. Kumar further said that every year Varsity management had spent crores of rupees for renovation of various electrical equipments and gadgets in various departments but despite then a number of appliances have gone kaput. "It is far from imagination and surprising that every year why the electric gadgets gone defunct, that means the electric material used by the contractor is of substandard quality", he alleged. Why the varsity gave all tenders to a particular contractor and that too without inviting tenders", kumar questioned and said that the former-student leaders who had pressurized JU administration and had achieved success to secure tenders in favour of their contractor relative, should also be taken to task. He also alleged gross irregularities committed by contractor in purchase and maintenance works. "Two years back the contractor had renovated some departments' electric wirings, lights and others gadgets but within one year all items became defunct while the wiring also got damaged", kumar alleged and demanded thorough probe of entire episode. Student Scholar Forum urged Chancellor of Varsity to direct varsity Vice Chancellor to initiate an inquiry of whole episode and taken a strict action against the culprits who had plundered the students' funds.
