Early Times Report

Jammu, Sept 9: People's Democratic Party (PDP) leader and Chief Election Coordinator for Jammu Province, Abdul Hamid Choudhary today made a fervent appeal to the central government, state agencies and telecommunication companies to restore all communication links so that people could contact their dear ones stranded on either side of the National Highway and are unable to communicate owning to snapped telephone and cellular links.
Expressing his shock over loss of lives in entire State due to flash floods caused by torrential rains, Choudhary Hamid said snapped communication links are creating unrest amongst stranded people as it's been more than three days that many have not been able to contact their dear ones and vice versa. People are unable to find whereabouts of their families and that's creating a panic amongst them. Normal life in entire Jammu and Kashmir State has completely been thrown out of gear but now that weather has started showing some signs of improvement, government must press its men and machinery into service and get the civil supplies restored on war footings. Hundreds of localities in entire state are still without water and electricity due to which people are faced with great hardships. The Centre, Choudhary Hamid said has agreed to assist liberally but now it's up to the state government to deploy honest, dedicated and intelligent officers on job to restore all links and rebuild damaged infrastructure. The state has already paid a heavy price for corruption and nepotism in the form of lost lives and damaged infrastructure. The government should immediately replace corrupt and inefficient from their positions and handover restoration and rebuilding job to those who care for people and know the value of human lives.
The task ahead for government is Herculean and no ordinary or incapable officer is going to help rebuild it. First and foremost all the central assistance which is pouring in should be distributed amongst deserving as weather in Kashmir too has started getting colder. In just few working months, the government has to achieve huge tasks of restoring communication links and civil supplies which is why dedicated teams must be assigned this task. The PDP leader while praying for peace to the departed souls hoped that their family members will bear this irreparable loss. He showed his solidarity with injured and stranded and also assured that every possible move is being made by PDP leadership to make central assistance reach them and let their situation known to the outer world for getting more help. Choudhary Hamid also thanked those states which have come forward in extending their helping hand to the people of Jammu and Kashmir State in these times of distress and chaos.
