CCI appeals PM to provide more men, machinery to deal natural fury in state | | | Jammu, Sept 12: Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI) today appealed Prime Minister, Narendra Modi to provide more men and machinery to deal natural fury in Jammu and Kashmir. In letter to Prime Minister, the CCI wrote, "Sir, this tsunami was unheard of on the paradise of this earth. Although the Army and the Para-military forces are doing commendable job in rescuing people from the marooned areas but there is undercurrent of resentment. Anger among the people that enough boats, helicopter have not been pressed into service to evacuate the marooned families trapped in 10-15 feet deep water." The chamber further wrote to PM that while the timely relief under taken by the Central Government was commendable for the marooned people of Srinagar. "The government should not loose sight of the fact that there are other areas of the state like South Kashmir, Districts of Poonch, Rajouri, Udhampur, Ramban and Reasi where the recent rains have brought havoc of no less magnitude", they further apprised PM through a letter. All national dailies, Press and TV Channels are full of stories of untold miseries, prevailing hunger and the danger of looming epidemics. "Sir, it is impossible to assess the actual losses till the water recedes and the people are able to salvage whatever is left. Sanction more boats and helicopters besides sending central team to assess the losses so that effected people are rehabilitated at the earliest", they added. They further demanded, "Sir, in view of the forced closure of all the commercial activities due to these flash floods we further request that the last date of depositing the 2nd installment of Advance Income Tax as well as the date for filing of Annual Audited Returns may kindly be appropriately extended." |
