Enemies of humanity hampering rescue operation | Cong questions Army's role | | Neha JAMMU, Sept 12: Our valiant jawans are working day and night to rescue the stranded people in Kashmir Valley. They have staked their own precious lives for the cause of the humanity and the nation. They are putting in all efforts to save the invaluable lives of those who are still trapped at various places in Srinagar and elsewhere in the Valley and struggling for their life. Our soldiers have already saved more than one lakh lives in Kashmir Valley alone and they are leaving no stone unturned to save the lives of others in the marooned Valley. Their selfless efforts should be appreciated by one and all. In fact, the nation is appreciating their efforts. Not only the Indian nation, even hostile country like Pakistan has appreciated the efforts of the Army put in the Valley to save the lives of the people. Ironically, the political leadership in the Valley is not visible. And as for fanatics like Syed Ali Shah Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, Yasin Malik and Shabir Ahmad Shah, they are nowhere in the sight. They have not issued a single statement showing solidarity with the people in distress. This is not on their agenda. Perhaps, they have fled away from the Valley. The role of the ruling elite and other mainstream Kashmiri leaders and the extremists is highly abominable and condemnable. The role of the Congress has been all the more questionable. It has refused to commend the work of the Amy, saying it only rescued the influential and not those who needed immediate attention. Congress in-charge of Jammu & Kashmir Ambika Soni today even made a ridiculous claim that it was the Kashmiri youth who were active in the Valley providing relief to the affected people. In fact, she spoke the language of self-styled chairman of the People's Conference Sajjad Lone, who also on Thursday gave credit to the local youth. Of course, he also said, and very rightly, that there existed no government in the Valley. Even more condemnable is the attempt being made by the enemies of humanity to hamper the ongoing rescue operations in the Valley. Some anti-social elements and agents of Pakistan and Lashkar chief Hafiz Saeed attacked some members of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and injured one of our jawans, who were involved in rescue operations and their objective was to hamper relief and rescue operations in Kashmir after the Army launched a Tatra truck on an experimental basis to gauge water depth and reach out to people in marooned localities. It happened on Wednesday. On Thursday as well, some enemies of humanity pelted stones and other objects on the vehicle that was launched on the Tengpora-Batmaloo-Lal Chowk-TRC-Gupkar road. They attacked the vehicle when it reached Lal Chowk after rescuing no less than 40 marooned persons. Credit goes to the driver who didn't stop. He withstood all odds, including threat to his life and limb. What was the grouse of the inhuman stone-pelters? The grouse of the senseless anti-social elements was that the 40 marooned persons had boarded an Army vehicle. In fact, they asked the rescued persons as to why they boarded an Army vehicle and they did it when the vehicle got stuck in water in front of the Dal Gate, from where another vehicle was launched. It's time for the Government of India to give a freehand to the Army so that it could carry on the rescue and relief work without in the manner it want. |
