| Police apprehend burglar boatmen; recover Rs 1.65 lakh loot money | | |

Jammu, Sept 12: At a time when humanity is in distress across the state due to unprecedented floods that have left hundreds dead and thousands homeless, vultures are out to on prowl to loot the survivors.
Police today arrested two thieves and recovered Rs 1.65 lakh from their possession which they had looted from the aggrieved persons.
The incident, Tuesday, came to fore when police team led by DySP Mohd Aslam was coming from MLA hostel Sangermal after rescuing NC MLA and stalwart namely Mustafa Kamal. The police team intercepted two Shikarawalas on way to Rajbagh for hiring, but the alleged accused started running which made police suspicious. Police team apprehended them and on being questioned they admitted to police that they had looted aggrieved persons. From their possession, police recovered an amount to the tune of rupees one lakh and sixty five thousand in cash.
During questioning, giving details, the Shikarawalas confessed that they had been charging Rs 10,000 for ferrying boatful of stranded persons to the safety |
