District administration provides relief material to stranded truckers | | | Kathua, Sept 12: Keeping in view the harsh situations created after flash floods in Srinagar more than 200-Srinagar bound truckers are bound to strand at Lakhanpur and nearby. Initiating helping hand to the stranded truckers since last five-six days district administration provided relief material to them as the truckers carrying goods were running out of ration stocks. The administration has also deputed a team of Medical Officers to check the health conditions of these people and provide medical assistance. As far as relief, concerns district administration provided Food packets containing 5 Kg ration items and 100 ml mustard oil as well as other edibles to each of the stranded truck on the highway. Team of officials comprised of Tehsildar Kathua and Assistant Director CAPD reached out to all the stranded trucks and provided ration items. Meanwhile, the administration has provided accommodation at Kathua to more than 20 families evacuated from valley. Deputy Commissioner Kathua Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary also dispatched 5-trucks of food items, drinking water and medicines for valley. He has also issued appeal to all the sections of civil society, NGOs, business establishments and institutions to contribute for the relief for affected areas in Poonch, Rajouri, Reasi and Udhampur where there is no airdropping of material and roads are still closed. Additional DC Prasanna Ramaswami is coordinating relief for stranded passengers and staff of trucks, buses on highway as well as the evacuated families stranded in the district. |
