More blankets, tents being sent to Jammu : Dr Jitendra | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Sept 12 : Having returned from his tour of Kashmir valley and on the eve of his two day visit to flood hit areas of districts Udhampur and Reasi beginning tomorrow, Dr Jitendra Singh, Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) said here today that in response to a request from the affected districts of Jammu province, a fresh installment of blankets and tents is being arranged. This supply may be sought from the National Emergency Reserve (NER) of National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) or some other sources, he added. Meanwhile, Dr Jitendra Singh disclosed that the Centre has also received a request from Divisional Commissioner, Jammu for more tents which is under consideration of the Border Management Division of union Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA). Dr Jitendra Singh said, there are a huge number of voluntary offers being made for transport of material to the State from Delhi and other States, and while,in the existing circumstances, the supply to Srinagar depends primarily on air-route, the supply to Jammu areas can be sent through road and rail route as well. Dr Jitendra Singh informed that National Crisis Management Committee (NCMC) has received request to arrange one lakh food packets daily for at least 3 – 5 days with each packet containing rice (1 kg), oil (1 litre), in addition to Dal and Masala. After this, the State administration may also be expected to arrange local godowns and preparation of food locally through State as well as voluntary agencies,he added. |
