Farm laboratory in SKUAST restored temporarily | | | Jammu, Sept 12 : Farm laboratory research and agricultural education in Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Jammu has been finished for the time being as heavy floods completely destroyed the farm machinery in the field and laboratory equipments of various divisions in the Faculty of Agriculture at University Main Campus Chatha Jammu. The flood water from Balol Nullah entered into the experimental farms, PG class rooms, UG lecture theaters, offices, laboratories with water level varying between 1-5 feet. It completely damaged all the expensive laboratory equipments including computers, machinery used for farm research, official vehicles, including tillers, experimental farms, orchards besides glass houses, net houses / high tech polyhouses at Faculty of Agriculture, Chatha. President of SKUAST- Teaching Association Jammu Dr. Vikas Sharma discussed with the executives of the body about this major setback to the farm varsity and decided to take up the issue with the State and Central Government. Dr. Vikas Sharma appealed to the State and Central Government to assess the losses immediately and allocate additional budget for the revival of research and academics at this main campus of SKUAST-Jammu. |
