Jammu, Sept 18: Mountaineering Association of J&K today finalized a 33-member team, including 14 girls, for participation in the 20th North Zone Sport Climbing Championship scheduled to be held at Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur (IIT, Kanpur) from September 25 to September 28.
The team, led by Anil Kumar of R S Pura, shall participate in all categories of senior, junior and sub-junior boys and girls. The state contingent is sponsored by J&K State Sports Council.
There are three climbers in the men section while women's category has four participants. Similarly, six boys and five girls are there in the junior group. The sub-junior group is represented by nine boys and six girls nine.
"Earlier, before the team announced, the selected climbers underwent a eight-day specialized coaching camp, organised by Mountaineering Association of J&K under the expert guidance of top national coaches at Sprawling Buds School, Chinore, here. The team shall leave for Kanpur September 23," informed general secretary of the Association, Ram Khajuria.
