Humane face: Army offers specialized treatment to Anantnag girl at MH Jammu | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Sept 19: When nature had played havoc in Kashmir valley, flood water severely disrupted life, at remote Anantnag, on September 10, and Indian army has took another responsbilty from defender to 'savior' rescued one minor girl critically injured and shifted her to Military Hospital Jammu for specialized treatment for head inquiry. The tragedy struck when a family was moving for safer shelter and 5 years old child identified namely as Saira Bilal, unfortunately sustained head injury around 10 am while she was hit on the head by fall of a big branch of a tree. Defence spokesperson said, " The family members managed to take her to MMABM Hospital at Anantnag at 11 am. The doctors diagnosed the case as 'severe head injury' and referred to Medical College at Srinagar," he added "With the existing worse flood situation blocking all roads at that time, there was no way to take the child to Srinagar, Defence spokesperson said and added that a helicopter of Indian Air Force emerged as saviour. and under Op Megh Rahat the child alongwith her grandmother Jehana Begam were flown to Srinagar Airport. "Further the worsening flood situation made it impossible for Saira to be taken ahead towards any hospital at Srinagar, he added. Official spokesperson said that Air-force officials took the initiative to send her to Jammu. "An aircraft of Indian Air Force brought her to Jammu. From the Air Force base Jammu, message was passed to 166 MH to receive the patient, he added. Giving details spokesperson said that the child was admitted to Military Hospital, Jammu at night 10 pm almost within 12 hours of sustaining injury. Brig Man Mohan Harjai, Commandant told that the child and her grandmother came without any belonging only in the clothing worn. "The Samaritan nursing staff of the Military Hospital provided them the necessary clothing and toiletries. Indian Armed Forces made it possible to wheel in the serious patient to the hospital at the hour of crisis and need, he said. Brig Harjai added that her Glasgow Coma Scale was only 10/15 at time of admission. Her CT scan of head was carried out immediately, which revealed fracture of left parietal bone of the skull. She was managed conservatively. "She has improved and will return home shortly. The dedicated care of Armed Forces has saved a tender life, he said. |
