Pakistan army resorts to unprovoked firing in Poonch | | | Early Times Report Poonch, Oct 1: Peace prevailing along the line of control for over past one month was shattered in Shaujian area of Poonch after Pak army resorted to unprovoked firing on the forward Indian posts in blatant violation of ceasefire agreement on wednesday evening. After fresh diplomatic offensive at the UNGA where Pak premiere Nawaz Shariff had attempted to raise the issue of Kashmir demanding plebiscite this is the first such incident of ceasefire violation since August 27, 2104. The escalated tensions between the neighboring countries were diffused at two back to back flag meetings at the International border and along the line of control in the first week of September. In both the high level engagements though the Indian forces had lodged strong protests over incidents of ceasefire violation but had also resolved to adhere to the ceasefire agreement of November 23,2003. Meanwhile, Defence PRO in Jammu Lt Col Manish Mehta wednesday while confirming the news of fresh ceasefire violation claimed that the firing which started around 6.40 p.m was continuing till 9.20 p.m in the forward area. The Indian army jawans are already in a state of high alertness following regular attempts from across the Loc to push infiltrators inside the Indian territory. |
