| Time to choose friends or foes | | | Yajin Bhatt
As the valley of Kash-
mir is still recuperat-
ing from the aftermath of devastating floods and the rehabilitation work for victimized people, the state of J&K is expected to brace up itself for the coming Assembly elections. For quite well known reasons, these elections hold a quite different relevance in this state than any other part of the country. First of all, due to article 370 the election should be held in an ambient manner. Secondly, because of the ongoing separatist movement, the elections should be fair enough to win back the confidence of the local people engulfed in the blanket of separatist thoughts and cross border terrorist brain-washing and influence. The third angle being the stake of those Kashmirs who exoded from the valley way back 1990. The Diaspora of Kashmiris all across the globe have again their hopes of return pinned on these elections, especially when the Modi wave has engulfed the entire nation, for its people friendly policies and good governance motto.
Again, for the people of this flood ravaged and terrorist torn state , elections hold a special importance , as they are given the opportunity to prove their aspiration for growth and development by becoming an important element in the mainstream politics of the state rather than supporting the unethical jihadi movement which is going to lead them nowhere but death.
The people of Kashmir must realize enemies of nation are leaving no stone unturned to destroy both the social as well as the political fabric of the state and the country.
The new govt. at the centre and the one which will come in the state should enact tough laws to clamp down the jihadi secessionists ruthlessly, so that they do not get a field to propagate decades old dynasty politics under the garb of autonomy and self rule. There is no better time than elections to show the exit door to such elements. J&K were no different from the other states of the country, even this state have no takers for the dynasty rule as is evident from the results of recent general election. Hopefully, these assembly elections will act as an eye opener for the common man to decide between their friends and foes. They should vote for the stable govt. and should introspect the kind of assistance they received from the central govt. and the armed forces in recent past. It is certainly an opportunity for Kashmiri youth; they need to come out from the vicious web of so called Azadi, to realize their potential to transform this hellish atmosphere of the valley once again into heaven, which every one yearns for. Right from Shah Faisal to others Kashmiri youths have demonstrated their real talent by placing themselves on the top in the UPSC exams, the number of successful students is cumulatively increasing each year. It definitely indicates that they have chosen the pen & shun the gun. Another step ahead recently observed is Mr. Lones meeting with Honorable PM Mr. Modi. By adopting the participative approach in the democratic process and that too at the time when the dreaded ISIS is trying to take its ugly head out there, the valley will surely write a new history for itself. Unfortunately, those at helm of affairs have always misused the power and the funds coming from the central govt.
Now the situation is somewhat different at the Centre. The political parties need to be true to their words and they need to take care of the sensitivities of the common man to rebuild their confidence in the governance system. This is the only way out wherein the separatist forces will automatically lick the dust, for their subversive policies. Politically speaking shunning their rigid attitude the secessionists should have in fact participated in the electoral process to test their own viability in the political arena of the state. Aware of their own fate, they run away from the reality of facing the public and sabotaging the electoral process, as always.
Another angle that has been added to this state and the election scenario there, after the new govt. has been coroneted at the centre under NDA coalition led by Nareddra Modi. People of the state are hopeful after Modi gave free hand to Indian army at the borders to deal with the nuisance created by the Pakistan and teach them a good lesson for the cease fire violation, which was going on unabated. At the same time the type of rehabilitation work both during and post the devastating floods undertaken by the Indian army on the orders of the central govt. are commendable.
Today India has emerged as a powerful Nation for many good reasons and the recent being its presence on the mars amongst other super-powers. While we are aiming for the stars Pakistan is aiming at our borders. It is desperate enough to enter into J&K borders which will buy them nothing but humiliation as it recently faced at UNGA, where the whole world preferred to lend deaf ears to the Pak's rhetoric. Now it is Pakistan not India under International pressure because world has already awakened to the fact that Pakistan is aiding and abetting terrorism on its soil and more importantly Osama Bin Laden had taken refuge in Pak. Besides, the recent Million marches organized in London by some immature leaders of Pakistan like the Bhutto scion, Bhilawal Bhutto etc had no takers.
Even their own people have started realizing about the foolish agenda they are harping about. In the recent UNGA meetings Pakistan has got clear cut warning not Internationalize the irrelevant Kashmir issue and instructed Pak to solve the present problems bilaterally with India. As always the Kashmir pot is still boiling for all the undesirable and unpleasant reasons, as usual for the terrorist and separatist activity and most recently being the floods which has dithered and wilted the entire valley and parts of J&K. when the people here are yet to patch up their broken belongings, they are shouldered with the responsibility to chose their own govt. in the coming Assembly Elections. All the regional parties of the state, including BJP and Cong., Will leave no stone unturned to garner maximum votes for their respective camps. Buoyant, by its victories in the states of Maharashtra and Haryana, BJP, has shifted its focus to J&K Assembly Elections. The BJP is ready for the post poll tie ups with the individuals as well as the small parties. To achieve mission 44+ Bjp is already working on some valley seats where KP's are in substantial no. and turn the tide in its favor.
The party is confident that the Modi Wave will pay rich electoral dividends in Jammu region which has 37 constituencies out of total 87 seats. "Well begun is half done" BJP has already given its mandate to young faces, majority of them being fresh and non-controversial like Pawan Khajuria, Ravinder Raina, Rajiv Jasrotia from three corners of jammu division. There are 46 constituency in Kashmir and Ladakh region account for 4 seats. Besides, the support base of BJP is increasing every passing day because PM Modi has shown keen interest in the state affairs and has been successful in deftly handling the Kashmir issues. Another important fact is that NC and Congress are struggling bitterly for their survival. Omar Abdullah abandoning its Ganderbal constituency.
Azad's and Soz's decision to decline to contest and other things clearly indicate the kind of political wind is blowing in J&K. Very significantly, the political analysts have written political obituary for congress and NC in the state and there will be direct contest between Mufti's PDP, which won all the three LokSabha seats in May 2014 and BJP swept jammu & Ladakh and formed govt. at the centre. This state has witnessed atrocious days, the period of 25 years is no less than a generation, have been wasted away in militancy, leaving some deep rooted scars on the people of Kashmir. Kashmiri Hindus have suffered for none of their fault and Kashmiri Muslims have also gone through turbulent times of death and destruction. People need to grab this opportunity to vote for the right candidate and for their better tomorrow. |
